In recent years, we have upgraded old and underperforming legacy systems. These systems have ranged from traditional relay control systems through to early PLC and SCADA systems that although functional, represent a considerable risk should they fail.
We appreciate upgrading your legacy Systems can seem like a duanting task, especially if the control system has little or no documentation. We have developed various migration strategies for PLC’s, HMI's and SCADA systems which help to minimise downtime and utilise the best products available for the application(s) required with the customer’s budget in mind.
The methodology used to upgrade any legacy system differs dependant on the state of the incumbent system. Often, the control panels and installation are in good condition, yet the PLC controller is no longer supported, whereas in some instances our clients have chosen to replace their entire system, whilst at the same time maintaining production.
Our engineers are able to retrieve the software from the existing system and then reverse engineer it to produce a current Functional Design Specification (FDS). This will help identify any existing problems, the potential for modifications and whether a complete replacement is required.
